What to Expect

FAQs for visitors to Acadia Yoga & Movement

What should I bring?

The most important thing to bring is yourself. Showing up on the mat is one of the best commitments you can make to your body. Bring your own mat if you have one, or rent one from us. Many people also bring a towel, especially for heated classes. You’re welcome to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.

What should I wear?

Dress for comfort, not perfection. Leggings, bike shorts, or loose, lightweight pants work well on bottom, with a sports bra, tank, or breathable tee on top. Shoes stay outside the studio. Most classes are in a temperate room, with select heated classes reaching 85–90°F (clearly marked on the schedule).

What facilities do you offer?

Our studio has a large, welcoming reception area with benches and hooks for your belongings, plus two unisex bathrooms where you can change your clothes if necessary. Please note that we don’t have showers or lockers at this time.

Do you allow children?

We love being part of a family-centered community, and we welcome mature teenaged students to join classes alongside a parent or guardian. To help maintain a calm, focused environment for everyone, we’re not able to accommodate younger children in the studio at this time.

Do you have classes for different levels?

All of our classes are currently all-levels. Our instructors offer thoughtful cues, props, and modifications to support beginners, while providing options for more experienced practitioners to explore deeper variations and added challenge. Yoga is a deeply personal practice, and every day on the mat is different. We encourage you to move at your own pace and avoid comparing yourself to others.

How often should I do yoga?

Start where you are. Even one class a week can make a difference, while practicing two to three times a week often brings noticeable gains in strength, flexibility, and stress relief. The best frequency is the one you can sustain. Consistency matters more than intensity.

What if I have an injury?

You’re always welcome to practice with us if you have an injury, but we encourage you to let your instructor know before class. Our teachers offer modifications and prop options to help you move safely and comfortably. Please listen to your body, skip anything that doesn’t feel right, and consider checking with your healthcare provider if you’re unsure what’s appropriate for you.

Is it hot yoga?
Most of our classes are held in a comfortable, temperate room (around 70°), creating a steady and welcoming environment for practice. We also offer select heated classes (typically 80–85°) which are noted in the schedule and gently warmed using infrared panels.
